Internet Over Power
Internet Over Power Lines
In Bangalore it is hard to get the broadband connections because of the limited infrastructure of cable and telephone lines. For instance, Airtel does not provide broadband to any residence, even in major cities like Bangalore. They do a feasibility study and reject the application if there is only one application on that street. They are not ready to bring the telephone line for one person. I applied twice in the period of 1 year and didn’t get the connection and recently went for the BSNL DataONE broadband connection. Good to see that BSNL has telephone lines everywhere.
Enough of all these restrictions due to the limited infrastructure of telephone lines and cables. Thanks to the innovations, now we can get the broadband connections if you have the electricity line :-) Every house has an electricity connection, so anyone can go for broadband connection.

Edward De Bono’s Six Thinking Hats
Recently I have read Edward De Bono’s Six Thinking Hats. Let me share few words about it. Six Thinking Hats method is primarily based on the concept of parallel thinking, which is straight opposite to the conventional individual thinking in a meeting.
According to Edward, individual thinking in a meeting will lead to argument that result in waste of time. On the other hand, parallel thinking provides a framework that allows everyone to think in the same direction and to get the full advantage in all directions. Simple example mentioned in the book is Review of a house. Imagine there are four people viewing the house from different directions (N, S, W, and E). Obviously they all get different opinions about the house, which might conflict each other, that results in an argument. On the other hand, in parallel thinking, everyone view the house from one direction at a time so that everyone applies their thoughts in one direction at a time and everyone agrees with each other. Then move on to the next direction.
Now I’ll brief a bit about the hats. Edward selected the color hats to give different thinking directions.
White – Information and Facts
On wearing White hat, you have to put forward the facts without any emotions.
Basically Neutral Thinking
Black – Cautious
On wearing Black hat, you have to be cautious. Try to figure out all the negative aspects. Basically Negative thinking
Red – Emotion, Feelings, etc.
On wearing Red hat, you can put forward your feelings and emotions formally in the meeting. You don’t have to support the feeling. Basically Emotions
Yellow – Support
On wearing Yellow hat, you can support the proposal with the existing methods.
Basically Positive Thinking
Green – Ideas, Innovation
On wearing green hat, you apply your creativity and bring new innovative ideas.
Basically Creative / Lateral Thinking
Blue – Thinking about thinking, Organization of Thinking
On wearing blue hat, you have to think about the thinking process. Basically Organize the thinking process

New way to read the web - RSS/ATOM feeds

Just thought of sharing some info on the new technologies... (new technology because, I just explored it today ()
Come out of the traditional ways of reading the news, blog, or any web sites that enabled their RSS feeds. Nowadays many websites provide RSS feeds in ATOM formats, which you can collect from a RSS feed reader and read at your comfort.You can have all your favourite news feeds, technical forum feeds, etc and read from one place.
I was thinking to explore a bit on RSS feeds, today I got the time to do that. I read a bit about RSS/ATOM feeds @ http://www.mnot.net/rss/tutorial/, installed the FeedReader, a cool tool, gathered few RSS feeds (News, Finance, Blogs, etc…) from my favorite list, configured them in Feedreader.
It is very cool to read through the FeedReader (

Moore's Law
Moore's laws says that
" the number of transistors per square inch on integrated circuits had doubled every year ".
Luckily that trend follows still :-)
Even though i have a 2.8 GHz processor PC with 512 MB, it is very slow.
Nowadays 30% of my processor is used by the Virus scanner most of the time and aprox 10% is being used by the Desktop search engine to index the files, etc. aprox 5% might be used by the spybots... etc..
The left out is only 55% :-(
I think the hardware should grow at the speed of square of Moore's Law, i mean
" the number of transistors per square inch on integrated circuits had quadruple every year ". :-)

Perspective Matters: Follower, Creater or None
Lets see how the perspective of the people differ.
I had choosen software context for this blog, forgive me for that.
When we began to use Object oriented programming, few people studied the concepts well and modularized there applications into different modules which includes Tracing, Security, etc. They try to adopt the OOPS. Since they just learnt and followed the OOPS considering the "Class" as a basic entity, I would say this behaviour was due to the "Follower" perspective.
If you would have analyzed OOPS in depth, you would have figured out there is something which spreads across the classes. Few people had looked at it (ofcourse not me) and researched a bit and came up with the concept of Aspect Oriented programming (AOP). They say "Aspect" is the basic entity for AOP, which spreads across many classes. Simple acpects are tracing, security, etc.,. They see these aspects spread across in all classes and clutters the code. They found a way to seperate these aspects and a way to weave them in the logic through point-cuts and advices. I would say this behaviour was due to the "Creater" perspective. There are quite a few famous AOP implementations namely,
And finally few people are there around who are neither follower nor cleator...it might be because of1) lack of inniative2) lack of oppurtunity3) constraints at work, tight time schedule, no brain-storming sessions to ignite the minds...and you can add more...
I feel myslef as a follower atleast, would like to think out of the box and move to creator :-)Let me see how it goes...
